AFTERTHOUGHT: JONATHAN SEEKS SENATE APPROVAL TO RENAME UNILAG

At the start of plenary today a letter sent by the presidency seeking
senate's approval to rename three federal universities was read.

President Goodluck Jonathan has asked the
Senate for approval to rename three federal
universities. In a letter sent to the Senate today and read by
the Senate President at the commencement of
Plenary, the President is asking for approval to
rename Federal University of Technology
Umudike to Michael Okpara University Umudike;
Federal Univeristy of Technology Yola to Modibbo Adama University and
University of
Lagos to Moshood Abiola University, Lagos. Students of the University
of Lagos had
embarked on a protest following the President's
announcement on May 29 of the renaming of the
