BEWARE OF SUYA,CAN WARNS SOUTH EAST XTIANS

he Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Southeast chapter, has
alleged that about 2000 youths have been deployed from the North to
the region ahead of a planned jihad by Boko Haram.

The CAN also alleged that sect has recruited dozens of roadside
hawkers of rasted meat popular called mai suya. Their role is to lace
their products with tasteless but dangerous substance that could
damage the liver after consumption.

The CAN chairman in the zone, Rt. Rev. Emmanuel Chukwuma, disclosed
that information at their disposal showed that apart from the 2000
jihadists in the region, about 2500 and 2000 were in the south-south
and south-west respectively for the same purpose.

Alluding to the bombing of churches on Sunday by suspected Boko Haram
members, Chukwuma who is also the Anglican Bishop of Enugu Diocese
expressed dismay that despite assurances from the Federal Government,
the killings had continued unabated.

'From the information we have gathered, it is pure jihad. Already a
good number of them, about 2000 have arrived the Southeast. It is a
form of jihad; they want to make sure that Nigeria is frustrated and
Islamised', the CAN leader stated.

He, therefore, warned 'our people should be careful with Suya; there
is a powdered substance that will be imported and after eating the
Suya, it will start damaging your liver'.

He lamented that it had become a terror for Christians to worship
their God on Sundays, stressing that if President Jonathan failed in
tackling security challenges and corruption in the country, he should
forget 2015.

'Are Christians no longer free to worship on Sundays, what is the IG
of police doing, is changing of uniform a way out of this problem,
what is the Senate and the House of Reps doing to put up a bill that
will be against persons and states promoting this act of terrorism',
he queried.

'Jonathan should be courageous enough to fish out these people, the
security operatives know them and I wonder why they should be treated
as sacred cows.

'We want to put an alert that Christians in the South are ready to
face them squarely because we heard that they have infiltrated this
place, especially Enugu.

'We are prepared for war- physically and spiritually against any form
of attack on the church. Time has come for reprisal because nobody can
stop us from worshiping our God', he added.

He expressed regret that in spite of the huge budgetary allocation on
security, the bombings have continued, stressing 'where is the high
budgetary allocation on security, where are they spending the money?
It means that corruption has become part of it'.
