EXPLOSION HITS PORT HARCOURT

Two persons are believed to have died in an explosion in a commercial bus at Rumuokoro roundabout in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital on Thursday morning.

The bus, painted in Rivers State commercial colours, was said to be conveying arms to an undisclosed destination when it exploded.
The driver and a passerby reportedly died while three persons were injured.
The bus was also totally wrecked by the blast, which shook nearby buildings.
The spokesman for the National Emergency Management Agency, Yushau Shauibu, confirmed the development in an SMS to PUNCH on Thursday morning.
However, Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, debunked insinuations that it was a bomb attack.
He said it was a robbery attack, in which dynamite was used.
